You might have heard เดาะ, กระเด็น, เด้ง, กระเด้ง but do you know the differences?

เดาะ dòr

เดาะ dòr means to dribble the ball against the feet.

For example: Ronaldinho is dribbling the ball. The ball is in his control bouncing against his feet. This action we call it เดาะบอล (dòr bon).

• I dribble the ball 50 times.
  ฉันเดาะบอลได้ 50 ครั้ง
  chăn dòr bon dâai · hâa-sìp · kráng
  
  
• I have to practice dribbling the ball.
  ต้องฝึกเดาะบอล
  dtông fèuk dòr bon

กระเด็น grà-den

กระเด็น (grà-den) means to bounce off out of control.

What if Ronaldinho was distracted and loses control of the ball, the ball bounces off his feet to ground. The ball กระเด็น away.

Examples:

• The ball bounces off the soccer players feet.
  ลูกบอลกระเด็นออกจากเท้าของนักเตะ

• The motorcycle crashed with the bike. The driver’s bodies bounced off the side of the road.

เด้ง dâyng, กระเด้ง grà dâyng

เด้ง (dâyng) and กระเด้ง (grà dâyng) mean to bounce up and down.

The ball that bounces off (กระเด็น) Ronaldinho’s feet keeps bouncing up and down, up and down before it stops on the ground. This action of bouncing up and down is call เด้ง or, alternatively, กระเด้ง

Example:

• The ball bounces on the floor for a few minutes before it stops still
  ลูกบอลกระเด้งอยู่ที่พื้นสองสามวินาทีก่อนจะหยุดนิ่ง
