Veterans Day in Thai

by | Nov 21, 2020 | Thai

Veterans day in Thailand is a different date than in the USA.

In Thailand, Veterans day is on February 3rd. In the USA, Veterans Day is on November 11. Having said this, these days are used to honor the Military and Soldiers.

To say Veterans day in the Thai language it is วันทหารผ่านศึก (wan tá-hăan pàan sèuk). Let’s break that word down.

วัน (wan) means “day”.

ทหารผ่านศึก (tá-hăan pàan sèuk) as a whole means “a veteran”. ทหาร (tá-hăan) by itself means soldier. ผ่าน (pàan) means “to go through”. ศึก (sèuk) means “war”.
