What is Songkran day?

Songkran is the Thai traditional new year where people take a long break to go back to their hometown and meet up with their family.

Songkran is celebrated 13th-15th April of every year.

During Songkran, offices are closed for almost a week. Bangkok is no longer congested because most people are traveling to their hometown for a family gathering.
