Here ที่นี่

ที่นี่ (têe nêe) means here.

ที่ (têe) is short for สถานที่ (sà-tăan têe) which means location. นี่ (têe) by itself means this. So ที่นี่ is literally “location this” meaning “here”.

Examples:

• I was born here
  ฉันเกิดที่นี่
  chăn gèrt têe nêe
  
  
• He was here 2 days ago.
  เขาอยู่ที่นี่ 2 วันก่อน
  kăo yòo têe nêe sŏng wan gòn

There / Over There ที่นั่น vs ที่โน่น

ที่นั่น vs ที่โน่น (têe nân vs têe nôhn) both mean “there” but ที่โน่น (têe nôhn) gives a feeling something is further away.

For example if something is waaaayyyy over there then you would use ที่โน่น. Otherwise if something is just “there” use ที่นั่น (têe nân). Let’s see some examples:

• She was there but then she ran way over there.
  เธออยู่ที่นั่น แต่แล้วเธอก็วิ่งไปที่โน่น
  ter yòo têe nân · dtàe láew ter gôr wîng bpai têe nôhn
  
  
• I was standing over there.
  ฉันยืนอยู่ที่นั่น
  chăn yeun yòo têe nân
  
  
• Her house is over there (it’s a bit far away).
  บ้านของเธออยู่ที่โน่น
  bâan kŏng ter yòo têe nôhn

Please note some people say ที่นู่น (têe nôon) instead of ที่โน่น (têe nôhn) but they mean the same thing
